Betway was founded in 2006, according to the page that its owner Super Group devotes to it, and the same page describes it as "the premier online global sportsbook operating under a single brand", supported by more than seventy partnerships with teams, leagues and ambassadors, among which the group's home page names Arsenal and Manchester City.
Our question here is what a casino attached to a sportsbook changes for someone who comes for the casino, from the single account to the two welcome offers and the way a bonus is spent. We have read the footer of betway.com, the group's pages (supergroup.com), the British register and the help and interface texts that betway.com publishes for its account, read without opening one; the full terms of the international site load only inside the live page, so where a figure is missing we say what to check.
Who runs Betway, and under which licence
The footer names Betway Limited, a Maltese company (number C39710) at 9 Empire Stadium Street in Gzira, licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority under MGA/CRP/130/2006 (issued on 1 August 2018) for "Type 1" and "Type 2" services. In the Maltese scheme the first type covers casino games played against the house (roulette, blackjack, slots) and the second covers fixed-odds betting, so a single licence carries both halves of the site.
The owner is Super Group (SGHC) Limited, a holding company listed in New York (ticker SGHC). It also owns the Palace casinos, among them Jackpot City and Spin Casino. Betway runs separate national sites in regulated markets, and the footer of the international site links to the British, Canadian, Irish and German ones.
The British register shows how far the group's companies overlap. Betway Limited holds Gambling Commission account 39372 (casino and betting, both active since 1 November 2014), and its list of domains includes casino.betway.com and sports.betway.com but also the British sites of Jackpot City and Spin Casino. Those are two brands of the same group that we review separately (Jackpot City, Spin Casino); a player who moves between them stays, in Britain, with the same licensee.
What sets Betway apart
For a casino player the difference begins with the account. The texts that the site publishes for its account name a single cash "Balance" beside a "Bonus", a "Bonus Bet" and a "Free Bet" (the last two belong to the sportsbook). In our reading this is one wallet with separate pockets for the promotional money of each product, so a deposit made for a Saturday match can end on a roulette table, and the reverse.
The tools follow the same logic, since deposit limits, "Take a Break" and "self-exclusion" sit in one account service (account.betway.com) and, according to the same texts, a long press on a button starts a break of 24 hours. The account also carries messages for the national self-exclusion registers of markets that have one, which in our view makes one Betway account easier to restrain than two.
The games
The lobby page that we read (the page that the international site serves to Canadian readers, read on 16 October 2026) speaks of more than 500 games and leans heavily on Games Global (formerly Microgaming), with Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Push Gaming, NetEnt and Playtech beside it and Evolution for the live tables. Its categories include "Betway Exclusive", "Bonus Buys" (slots whose bonus round can be bought outright), Slingo and video bingo, and the page counts more than 50 versions of blackjack.
The jackpot shelf holds Mega Moolah and the "King Millions" jackpots (progressive prizes that grow with every stake), and a player who comes from the sportsbook should know how such prizes are paid. A share of every stake feeds the prize pool, so the base game returns less than a similar slot without a jackpot, as our page on progressive jackpots explains.
The welcome offer, and the condition to read first
On 16 October 2026 the home page carried two welcome offers, each with its own terms page. The casino one was a "cashback" on net losses at casino games during the first 24 hours (returned as cash, and valid for 14 days after registration). The sports one was a "free bet" granted if the first qualifying bet loses, with spins on a named slot credited when that bet is placed.
The sports offer already builds a bridge between the two products, since a sports bet pays spins on a slot, and the casino offer is simpler to value than a match bonus. A player who loses $80 on the first day and recovers, for the sake of the example, 20 per cent as cash has $16 to withdraw, if the full terms confirm that no "wagering" (the volume of bets that unlocks a bonus) applies.
The same $80 offered as a match with a wagering of forty times would require $3,200 of bets, whose expected cost on slots returning 96 per cent is $128, more than the bonus itself! A free bet has its own arithmetic, because the bet slip warns that the "Payout does not include the Free Bet stake amount", so a free bet of, say, $25 at odds of 2.40 returns $35 if it wins, not $60.
The condition to read first is the one that the site states in the texts of its account: stakes are taken from cash and bonus in proportion to the two balances, and winnings return to them in the same ratio. With, say, $60 of cash and $40 of bonus, a spin of $5 uses $3 of cash and $2 of bonus, and a lucky win of $100 sends $40 to the bonus, money that stays under the bonus conditions, whereas a casino that spends cash first would have paid the whole win as cash!
The same account text warns that selecting "Opt Out" of promotions forfeits every bonus fund in the account, whether or not it belongs to a promotion, which for a player holding a sports bonus and a casino bonus at once means losing both.

The operators listed on our pages address the international, non-regulated market and do not hold a licence in every country from which our readers arrive: before registering, it is the player's responsibility to check that the law of the country in which he or she is located allows playing with that operator.
Deposits, withdrawals and timings
The casino page names PayPal, Neteller, Skrill and debit or credit cards among the deposit methods of its Canadian version, and in our reading the cashier is common to both products, as a single balance implies, while the withdrawal timings stay inside the terms that only the live page displays.
Three points deserve a look in the cashier before the first deposit: whether a request stays "pending" for a period and can be reversed, whether money must return to the method used to deposit (the "closed loop" that many licensed casinos apply), and whether fees or minimums apply to the method chosen. Our page on withdrawals explains each of them with examples.
The single balance has one more effect worth weighing, since a winning bet on Sunday afternoon becomes casino money on Sunday evening with no transfer to slow it down. If you want the two habits kept apart, we would advise a deposit limit on the whole account, which in our reading governs the money of both products.
Identity checks
The texts that the site publishes for its account describe an electronic "KYC" check (know your customer) of the registration details, which "will take a few seconds", followed by a banner announcing that the identity has been verified and that the player "can now deposit and stake"; until then the account is treated as provisional, with an invitation to "Verify your identity".
A quick check of this kind confirms the details typed in, but it may still be followed by a request for documents, before a large withdrawal or when a payment method is in another name. Keeping every method in your own name and the documents at hand (an identity card or passport, a recent proof of address) costs nothing and spares a delay.
For whom, and for whom not
Betway suits a player who bets on sport and plays at the casino now and then, wants one account under a Maltese licence and a listed owner, and prefers a casino offer measured in cash rather than in wagering. It suits less a player looking for a casino without the noise of a sportsbook, or one who dislikes seeing cash and bonus spent together.
The proportional rule is the clause on which we would linger. It is not hidden, since the site states it in the texts of its account; it changes, however, the arithmetic of every bonus at Betway, and a player who reads only the headline of an offer will not see it coming.
Opening an account at Betway
One registration opens both the sportsbook and the casino, so the decision that matters is which welcome offer, if any, to accept, each with its own terms and deadline. An account opened from one of our links earns Rand Casinos a commission from the group's affiliate programme, and the casino terms of your country's version remain the ones to read before the first deposit.
