Readers connecting from Alberta see this page in place of the Rand Casinos pages that present operators: Alberta is the second Canadian province, after Ontario, to open "iGaming" (online casinos and betting) to private operators under rules of its own.
The Criminal Code of Canada leaves gaming to the provinces (section 207) and makes advertising an unauthorised scheme an offence (section 206). In Alberta the market opened on 13 July 2026 under the iGaming Alberta Act: the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (the "AGLC") registers the operators, and the Alberta iGaming Corporation publishes the sites that belong to the "regulated market" of the province.
The casinos described on the rest of our site are presented through their international sites, which are not in that directory, so we present none of them here, even where a brand of the same group has a site registered in the province. This page lists no operators and no links to their sites; it explains how to recognise a registered site, how "self-exclusion" works and where to find help.
How to recognise a registered site
The Alberta iGaming Corporation keeps a directory of registered iGaming sites, which it describes as sites "reviewed for security, integrity, and responsible gaming", and the AGLC publishes the list of its "gaming registrants", the companies it has registered. Each entry also names the company that operates the site. The check is therefore simple, and we would advise making it every time: the site you are about to open should appear in the directory under the same name and address, because a brand familiar from abroad may run a separate site for Alberta (or none at all), under another address.
The company named in the entry can then be found in the AGLC's list of registrants; that list shows its class of registration and its expiry date.
The rules on advertising
Alberta's rules on advertising follow Ontario's. Registered operators may not use "affiliates" (sites paid for bringing them customers) that also serve operators unauthorised in Alberta, and they may promote bonuses and other "incentives" only on their own site and in direct communications that a player has agreed in advance to receive. A site like ours, whose links lead to international casinos, therefore shows readers in the province nothing but this page, which names the regulator and none of the operators that it registers, however well known they may be.
Self-exclusion
The Alberta iGaming Corporation points players to the Centralized Self-Exclusion program, which, it says, "can help you take a longer break", and the AGLC's own page on self-exclusion leads to the same site. An exclusion made through the programme reaches the operators of the regulated market and not the sites outside it, for which blocking software on the device, described on our responsible gambling page, is the tool that remains, whatever licence those sites may display!
Where to find help
211 Alberta answers on 211, by text (INFO to 211) and by online chat at ab.211.ca, around the clock, and it can refer callers to local services. The Addiction Helpline of Alberta Health Services answers on 1-866-332-2322, and Alberta Gamblers Anonymous and Gam-Anon (for family members) are among the resources that the Alberta iGaming Corporation lists as well, beside a helpline for Indigenous people across Canada that answers day and night. Online gambling in the regulated market is for adults aged 18 or over, which is the same age that applies in Alberta's land-based casinos.
The privacy policy explains how the site recognises the place from which you connect, with what service, and what is kept of it.
Questions
Is online casino gambling legal in Alberta?
Yes, since 13 July 2026, but only on the sites in the Alberta iGaming Corporation's directory of registered iGaming sites, run by operators that the AGLC has registered.
How can you check that a site is registered in Alberta?
Look for its name and address in the directory of registered iGaming sites on abigaming.ca; a site that is not there is not part of the regulated market.
What is the minimum age for online gambling in Alberta?
Eighteen.
